Tragety in Tuscon…ignorance in America

17 01 2011

Last night it is reported that Saginaw Police found the body of a 50 year old man. This is recorded as the first homicide of 2011 in our community. They have a person of interest in the case.

Do you think this will get much media coverage? Will this be drug out on the national news for a week? Sadness in Saginaw? Why not? Yes I am referencing the events in Tuscan last week when one of our members of Congress was unfortunatley shot in a shooting spree at a super market. Six died. This lead to a week of tremendous media coverage and the Tragety in Tuscon title. Why won’t the unfortunate man from Saginaw get a moment of silence, he will from family and friends but not nationally with the President and First Lady parading on the front lawn with the 30 minutes of non stopping talking that lead up to the minute of silence. Is this man not important? Or do we deem our politicians more important? Sad how the media has spun this.

The media has taken the act of a very disturbed young man and blown it up for its own purposes. Its not about gun control or size of magazines a gun can hold, guns dont kill, people kill. Many folks are coming forward and stating that they knew Jared Loughner was unstable, the community college he attended had over 50 pages on this man in regards to his behavior. All these people knew and yet did nothing.

Do you recognize the pretty little girl at the top? She is one of the real tradgeties. Christina Taylor Green is her name. She was 9 years old. She is one of the victims that died that day in Tucsan. She was born on Sept. 11, 2001 and was featured in a book called Faces of Hope(http://www.amazon.com/Faces-Hope-Babies-Born-11/dp/0757300979). This book told the story of one baby from each of our states that was born on the day terrorists killed nearly 3000 people. Her life began and ended with tradgety.
Christina’s funeral was a site to see. Cars parked on both sides of the road with traffic backed up. People dressed in white and about 20 were dressed as angels. We all think of our children as angels so this was fitting.

This information and Christina’s background came to me from my Pastor at Good Shepherd (www.goodshepherdinsaginaw.com) and the Associated Press. Pastor Mark also shared with us a lesson that Jesus tells us. He says that good and evil dwell together as weeds and wheat grow in the same field. This would be a good week to start the year off by showing compassion, mercy and forgiveness in a world that desparatley needs it.

Yeah it is too bad the Liberals used that sad event for their own agenda against gun control. Of course they are they same group who refuse to let go of ear mark legislation and that just increased tax in Illinois by 66%. When will people begin to take responsibility for their actions and reward hard work instead of rewarding laziness (distributing the wealth).

I pray for those poor people and for the family of that man in Saginaw. God Bless America!
